S Zorb Gasoline Desulfurization |
The development
of this low sulfur fuels unit involved ConocoPhillips proprietary S Zorb™ technology, which Fluor has used on several projects.
This clean
fuels project at the
refinery on the Gulf Coast
was initiated to comply with EPA regulations for sulfur content in gasoline fuel.
The process
was designed to reduce feed sulfur levels from 1.100 ppmw to 25 ppmw at a feed rate
of 40,000 BPD.
Fluor provided
the process design package, estimate, front end engineering, detailed design, procurement,
and construction management services for the unit.
The project
involved a reactor, sorbent transfer system, regenerator, fired heater, feed/effluent
exchangers, stabilizer tower and associated pumps, compressors, foundations, structural
steel, piping, electrical, and instruments and controls.
Fluor
Construction & Procurement, P2S, and TRS contributed to the success of the project.
